In this country, over 1500 Veterans die every day. It is my personal opinion that our country can never repay Veterans for the sacrifices they have made over the years. The freedom that we enjoy and often take for granted, we owe to our Veterans. In spite of the sacrifices made, it seems the respect and honor once given to our Veterans diminishes every day. The government continues to chisel away Veterans benefits in trying to meet budget demands and often our younger generation has no concept that the freedom and lifestyle they take for granted was bought and paid for with a great price.
I am reminded of a story I heard in which a young girl stood on the beach. The water rushed on the beach and with it’s disappearance it left many star fish. One by one the young girl carefully picked up the starfish and threw them back in the water thus saving their life. As a man on the beach watched her, he said "You can’t save all of them and a few can’t make much difference." To his comment she turned and said "It made a difference to that one."
There are individuals who feel the call to recognize Veterans and who make every effort to make a difference. Tom Hanks with the recent movie Saving Private Ryan is a great example. Tom continues to fight for Veterans and is supporting the efforts of the National Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. As one person, it may seem we can not make a difference, yet to those we touch the impact is huge. Whether we shake their hand and just say thanks or sing them a song or visit them in nursing homes and hospitals…….we can make a difference. We urge you to support our Veterans in some way whether great or small.
"A man is not dead until he is forgotten" are powerful words. The following pages are samples of our VETERAN’S HONOR BOOK which we display during our program. If you would like to honor or remember a Veteran, please submit the information and I will be glad to design a page for you. I will send you a hard copy and place a copy in our book to carry the memory.
GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES. We owe you more than we could ever repay.
